 · Buddy bought a 674 at an auction. Straight sheet metal, starts quick, decent tires. After sale he found out the power steering didnt work and the lift arms wouldnt lift. and no brakes. Dropped it off at my place. We drained all fluids and replaced all filters. Had hytran in it. no pressure on out.

 · 674 International power steering problem I have a 674 International that I'm having problems with. When I changed the hydraulic fluid and filter, the power steering quit working. I jacked it up and cycled the steering for 20 minutes left to right and that didn't help. The the 3 point lift works, the front end loader hydraulics work, but no.

IH 674 Slipping Cluthc

 · I have a ( abt - model year) IH 674 that has a slipping clutch. It has a "C" above the serial number on the clutch housing. I have an after market book for a "B" serial number, no mention of a "C" in the SN in the book. The clutch is 6 inches above the platform; the free play is now at 1 inch. The only adjustment is on the clevis.

Which 70's IH to buy?

 · Suppose there are a lot of opinions,but the 574 or 674 were grand enough machines.Or you could go for an 84 series and still be in the 70's. The 474 was IH engined and the 475's were the Perkins equivalent. Totally gutless and too high geared if on the standard 38'' tyres.A low compression engine that needed valve attention to keep it starting.

My hydraulics start failing after about 10 minutes of operating. The pump starts whining and the engine gets loaded when the pump cycles on and off. The oil is smoking hot.

 · Re: International 674 Hydraulic Problem in reply to Clark, 03-15- 05:06:37 Sounds like you have brake material getting into the filter and somehow got past the filter and into the valves. Change the filter and take it apart and look at it real close and see what it is trapping.
